MCASA is a group of parents and professionals dedicated to the education and welfare of adults and children with severe disorders of communication and behavior.  Our mission, through advocacy, information, referral, support groups, and financial aid, is to make Montgomery County a better place for persons with autism. What We Provide to the Community
Monthly support group meetings the 2nd  Thursday of each month from September through June at Twinbrook Recreation Center,  12920 Twinbrook Parkway, Rockville 20851  Click here for a map and directions.
General membership meetings featuring guest speakers. Dates and locations vary.  Samples of past topics presented include: sleep disorders, financial planning, information on the Medicaid Autism Waiver, parent panel discussions, nutrition, autism research, school related issues, medication, seizure disorders and more.
Hands-on workshops are offered on such topics as behavioral intervention techniques, augmenting communication, developing social skills, and more.
A newsletter providing information on MCASA activities, ASA information, area conferences, legislative updates and upcoming events.
Financial assistance is available in the form of scholarships, “camperships” and requests for specific equipment and or services for families as well as local schools and organizations that serve individuals within the autism spectrum.  

 

 MCASA is proud to have made contributions to:

Grafton School for playground equipment, communication devices and school room supplies
CSAAC toward Vans, the Vacation Fund and the Building Fund  as well as contributions to buy toys and reinforcers for younger children and assistance to purchase therapy equipment
Scholarships to local educators to further their knowledge in    the field of autism
The Arc of Montgomery County by supporting the annual Fashion Show benefit
The Lt. Joseph Kennedy Institute for Boardmakers, software and similar communication aids to schools serving children with disabilities
MCPS Autism Program classes for communication aids, classroom equipment, roller skates, games and other equipment as requested
Respite assistance for parents attending  MCASA meetings
"Camperships” for students attending camp
Individual assistance to families in need
Scholarships to attend conferences on autism            
Donations to help Cycle USA
